This summer has likely not been quite what you expected. You may not be able to take the vacation you planned, and your time energy may be focused on working from home, adjusting to canceled events and activities, and prepping for at-home school.
You may feel overwhelmed, scattered, and anxious. Here are some suggestions for shifting your focus, grounding in what you know, and make the best of the summer months.
-
Schedule and structure your days: We feel scattered when we have too many open-ended projects and lots of demands on our time. Schedule specific activities and complete them in that timeframe. This process will help you have a sense of control.
-
Create space for fun and relaxation: It’s also important to schedule in fun! Make time for activities that you find enjoyable. Make sure you include time in nature! Wear your mask, social distance, and have fun!
-
Connect with others via digital formats: If you have family and friends at a distance, plan regular video calls, so that you can continue to feel connected. Write down questions ahead of time and get all people to respond. It’s a great time to learn more about the people in your life.
-
Check in with household members to see how each person is adapting and note any needs. Work together as a team to be there for each other and offer support and assistance.
-
Access resources: If you need additional support, contact your physician, schedule a counseling appointment, or talk with other professionals who can help you get through this difficult time.
